oh my god Watcher, bless you for thinking to look into that? it adds that much more to the symbolism that i never even thought about. i never put together that the reason for the "psycho-caution motif" was because that switch was likely originally for launching projectile weapons. for both that, and the "projectile mechanism" at the root of Art, to ultimately be used the way they are at the end of this story... damn...!

US5811713A - The patent number of an apparatus for launching projectiles, invented by John Gudgel. This patent apparently expired on 6/19/2016, several years after this story was completed.
