Ahhhh, now /here's/ an arc I've been meaning to revisit! A shame I came across this arc so late, now I can't even join the convo! Though, I guess it /is/ funny how I came up with a similar concept to what Heyoka had about five years later...germbrains FTW!

I also just realized that there's a thumb extension to his glove-thing. That's really cool!

When I first read this, I thought "styling microbes" meant that animals learned styles specifically because of special microorganisms that lived in them or something.
Thank you for stopping me with a much more logical solution.

I want to say that the flame was definitely the reaction that Yuri was talking about. The *PHUMPH* sound effect would explain the appearance of the foam as having been dropped from the ceiling. In panel two you can see a thin wisp of smoke rising off of Strelka's head before the flame is apparent in panel three.

I'm pretty sure it's a fire extinguishing foam that came from the ship considering the sound effect comes from above.

I think the fire on her head wasn't her halo, but the reaction with her styling microbes and the oil, and that the foam got shot at her head from the ceiling to put out the fire, and that's why there's a PHUMP in that panel.

So, did the foam drop from the ceiling like fire sprinklers (except maybe it's a built in fire extinguisher), or did the microbes foam up because they sensed they were on fire?

The foam was a reaction between the microbes she uses to style her fur and the oil.
Also, the halo brain was visible on the monkey iirc

Where did that foam come from? Strelka or the (ship?) building?

So many cool things in this one! I'm getting the impression that Strelka's Halo-brain manifests when he/she talks. IIRC, the last time we saw a visible halo-brain manifest was Meander when he had his Attention technique on.
