I agree Lhexa, that shade of green can't be pure coincidence! Or maybe it's green for being consumed by something. Power and control for Greenie, sex for XX. Similar concept to hunger or greed.

Perhaps the bee pollinating her flower is a metaphor for her loss of innocence? After if occurs, her eyes flash red like Fig's do, and her coat goes silver.

@Furrama Hahaha, I went through the exact same realisations on re-reading this! It also took me a while to realise that she had erroneously asked for texts on "fortification" and was looking at illustrations of that. I thought it was just... really weird porn.

Okay, going back through this for the billionth time I finally understand what's going on in the first half of this page. (I am historically dense.) She went to the library for art references and found porn. It was marked with a strangler fig leaf insignia arranged like a regular fig. That exact panel, 5, reappears on panel 32 when the symbolism is explained to her, and the audience. And she was drawn to it because of the fig leaf that was given to her by the copulating wolves at the start. Also it appears that the first bit of porn she found wasn't of mustelids, but she soon found the mustelid section. She then started thinking of her body in that way, and made art studies, and slowly grew into what she would become. Her life in part turned out the way it did because two wolves couldn't FIND A HOTEL. It's also cool that this is the exact same mirror she uses later.

The gray shading on XX is downright odd... it doesn't seem to simply be coat color changing, since it's a different shade than the white on her belly...

Seems like the mom's into flowers and the daughter's into... porn, if a few of those illustrations are depicting what I think they are! Apparently super-fluffy tailtips are in vogue, too. The shots of the drying-up leaf are absolutely gorgeous, I can almost hear it crinkling.

hmmm. from the patreon preview and the first couple of pages, i guessed the background would gain color and she'd get a monochrome winter coat. but her color comes back in the last panel, sort of. interesting. love the format of this page, too.
