man, I'm real anxious to see how this shared dream plays out...
39 . by: July 17, 2017, 1:23 am

Is it just me or does Fig look.. different. She looks more baby faced than in previous pages.
38 . by: Dani July 16, 2017, 11:23 pm

I keep thinking how it's funny to look at panel two out of context. Like they are setting up a camera ;P
37 . by: July 16, 2017, 1:11 pm

That mouse is really cute, I love her
36 . by: jprosk July 14, 2017, 11:02 pm

Now Fig can say she slept with Smoothie and she technically won't be lying!
35 . by: Seven July 14, 2017, 9:07 pm

Oh, man, #32, here's a hug if you want one. :(
34 . by: Furrama July 14, 2017, 6:40 pm

We all identify with art in our own way.
33 . by: July 14, 2017, 6:13 pm

i know you are hurting and it pains me to see it but

what
32 . by: July 14, 2017, 5:39 pm

As much as Syconium hurts me, I cannot stop thinking about it.

It's practically every day that I'll fixate on this story and come back to whether or not it's going to end like Hard Candy or I Spit On Your Grave.

I want to have faith that Green's own arc can mean something more than that.

...In a screaming fit over the phone that ended with me not talking to my father for nearly a year... After me begging him not to hunt my own rapist down and castrate and kill him, he asked me if I liked being raped.

The image that still haunts me to this day is an image I found on a castration site (I was accused of being a creep in high school and fetishized my own destruction) of a man that had carved into his thigh "Daddy fucked me and I liked it kill me".

It's like if I don't support Good Rape, then I must support Bad Rape.

That man I almost started bludgeoning to death in public for wearing a fedora and talking to women... It's things like my father screaming that I should support him torturing, castrating the guy that raped me, all those times I've seen someone online support rape when it's The Bad Guy...

All I ever wanted for my rapist was for him to understand what he did and never do it again. I know that's complicated. And maybe it wasn't just an excuse for all the past genocides and all the other inequities. Maybe society just needs rape so individuals can punish and dominate over Bad People. Like we just need that excuse.

But my god, I just don't want that. And if people like Nancy Grace, in her gaslighting of Elizabeth Smart for not saying The Right Things, if Nancy and others like Joe Arpaio are the epitome of justice?

Then I don't want justice.

I want a reconciliation that restores and uplifts two halves of the same trespass.

That's all I wanted from Mr.Everston.

...Thank god Fig is getting this help. God's love be with all of them.

Watcher, I've been there with my father. He always screams so much and so loudly, he managed to rupture his throat cancer. Thank god he survived, but they pumped so much radiation to his head that he's losing his teeth now...

I am probably on my way to lung cancer but, I'm hoping for the best with you.
31 . by: Kaidona July 14, 2017, 4:31 pm

Grats on a successful surgery, Watcher. I'm currently emotionally supporting a dear friend whose mother is suffering terminal lung cancer, and now I automatically worry when I see people mention tumors. I hope you continue to see good health post-op.

In before the Animal pulls a Freddy Krueger on Smoothie and murders him
29 . by: Watcher July 14, 2017, 12:26 pm

Found it -- page 154 of Solar System pretty much answers my question.

And to Hazard's comment (#24) -- I was thinking the same thing! Loved the whole Fraggle series.
28 . by: Dani July 14, 2017, 11:56 am

Oh my, Fig was talking about trusting Smoothie, not RG! Whoops. That's cool too :p
27 . by: Watcher July 14, 2017, 11:56 am

Thank you, Zack. Doing good so far.

I just had a cancerous tumor removed, and while they were prepping me, I couldn't help thinking of both Secretary (Curettage -- *shudder*) and Solar System (poor Strelka).

I know Strelka had cancer, but was it ever specified just what kind of cancer it was, or where it was located? (Morbidly curious here.)
26 . by: July 14, 2017, 11:13 am

Did Cherry cause that nick on the bridge of her nose or am I seeing things?
25 . by: Zack July 14, 2017, 10:25 am

Hi Watcher,

Congratulations on your surgery, and I hope that you make a full recovery.
24 . by: hazard July 14, 2017, 8:44 am

OMG they're gonna do the fraggle thing of dreaming together!!

This is a HUGE new power available to them, I'm assuming because of the unique properties of the halo brain!!
23 . by: Bluefan July 14, 2017, 7:13 am

@19 I totally agree, at second glance I wondered if she meant that she does'nt think he's capable of hurting her, but no I'd like to believe that she trusts him completely :3
Also, I only just now noticed that Fig has been saturated white ever since the page where she met Smoothy for the first time XD let's hope she gets a bit more grey back after this... experiment?
22 . by: kuu July 14, 2017, 6:02 am

hopefully the cross hatch pen dosen't hold any dangerous powers
21 . by: July 14, 2017, 5:52 am

Does that needle have enough pixels, though?
20 . by: July 14, 2017, 4:29 am

I love that the result of XX's rebellion against Fig insisting she do the hatch blush ended up being something you can draw with.
19 . by: July 14, 2017, 2:06 am

Ooh, I hope she doesn't have problems falling asleep, haha!
Nap dates are the best dates. Ditch Greenie, date the sleepy psych major.
Gosh, it's just a minor detail, but Fig saying out loud that she trusts Smoothie killed me a little bit. Like, we all have friends, but how many times can you say that you completely trust them?
18 . by: Witch July 14, 2017, 1:45 am

the mouse is so cute.............................
17 . by: July 14, 2017, 12:44 am

rotating wheel
halting rotation
16 . by: July 14, 2017, 12:44 am

There's nothing wrong with being a markscraft, there was a whole school for it even in Secretary times. SV just didn't want to do it, his personal ideal was the fighting college.
15 . by: Silkworm July 14, 2017, 12:18 am

It feels odd to meet a character that wants/wanted to be a markscraft after SV's complete rejection of the trade in Secretary. I know that arc was just about forever ago, and our scope of the nofna world is limited to small periods of each arc but it still feels odd.
14 . by: Watcher July 13, 2017, 11:53 pm

"Just fall asleep..."

I was in a position like this yesterday, having surgery performed on me with general anesthesia.

Recovering nicely, but it's kind of eerie seeing this today, nonetheless.
13 . by: Dani July 13, 2017, 11:29 pm

Tiiime for cuddles! :3

Gettin that fuzzy feeling from the RG-Fig dynamic as well. Glad Fig has friends in here.
12 . by: Juna July 13, 2017, 9:57 pm

Also, I'm staring at that last panel and I'm just realizing, the red/blue dipole is practically the classic color coding for a horsehoe/bar magnet. I mean, it occurred to me early on that the red/blue motif was about circuits and literal+figurative power, but... lol. Maybe XX has the secret of (animal) magnetism buried inside her!
11 . by: Juna July 13, 2017, 9:50 pm

@Furrama might as well be! And furthermore one that's a tangible object. I suppose that puts it on the same level as the nodes (w/o bein alembicized ofc), even though I never thought of them with the same sheer physicality. Oh, on that note, that probably answers the outliving question: if it's like the nodes, an object formed through Art would need to be 'refreshed' by somebody who knows the style. That hatch blush must've been there a long time, though...maybe since spring? Persistence by the sheer force of willing something into existence, eh?
10 . by: Seven July 13, 2017, 9:14 pm

I'm so happy to see her back, she is cute. <3 And wants to be a markscraft, awww. I wonder how many more employees there dream of something beyond that place.
9 . by: Kai July 13, 2017, 9:03 pm

The mouse is adorable in general, haha. He seems so excited to be a markscraft.
8 . by: 9times July 13, 2017, 8:52 pm

The mouse pose in panel 2 is so adorable.
7 . by: July 13, 2017, 8:26 pm

I'm glad the confrontation with Sherry didn't discourage Fig from having these sessions. If anything, it seems to have made her more determined.
6 . by: Furrama July 13, 2017, 8:13 pm

@Juna If it's physical, usable on real objects, and persists outside of their minds, doesn't that mean she anger farted a telenoia into existence for a second?
5 . by: Juna July 13, 2017, 7:59 pm

Hah, God, his face when he hands the single blush needle to the mouse. She's pretty darling too, with the markscraft bit. I love smooth writing utensils too, lady.

@Furrama you know, I don't think there's been any nofna characters who made holdable tools out of any Art. It's all been alembics taking after light or fire, or plasma of some sort. I'm inclined to think that it'd expire with the originator, but only cause it seems most closely related to somethin like SV's blue ink. And it's still ambiguous to me if whether that ink became physical, even temporarily.
4 . by: Seven July 13, 2017, 7:59 pm

Lots of people with dreams in this brothel.
3 . by: Magenta July 13, 2017, 7:53 pm

Oho! Figgy inadvertently invented something cool!

And it's great to see the greeter mouse again, and know more about him/her.
2 . by: July 13, 2017, 7:03 pm

the fucking hatch blush oh my god
1 . by: Furrama July 13, 2017, 7:02 pm

Ooh, Zach is early today! I checked on a lark after Hearthstone went down.

That hatch blush has interesting properties. Does Art like that persist through death?
