HERE IT COMES

THE MOST POWERFUL PAGE IN ALL OF NOFNA
42 . by: April 9, 2017, 12:53 am

@7 called it.
41 . by: Furrama April 7, 2017, 10:05 pm

Has the update been postponed again?
40 . by: Witticaster April 6, 2017, 9:25 pm

Also @theroguez your fanart is amazing! Look at all that bushy fur! Can only imagine how time-consuming it must have been to get it all set up.

@camila - I don't find it so odd, considering the story is literally just now starting to actually directly talk about the meaning of sex in society. I mean, up until now a huge part of people's problems have come from the fact that they didn't acknowledge the 'bigger picture' of sex and how it manifests in society. By XX's admission she only understands it superficially.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Smoothie brings up same-sex behavior as an example of some of the non-reproductive sexual activity that's been allowed to flourish in society's "best lover" environment. Then again, this is a society with magic mind powers, four-day weeks, and no concept of suicide. Not sure they'd have anything even close to a 20th-century Westernized concept of sexual orientation.

On the mention of how the study was made by
having students interact with media of the opposite sex... I find it kinda odd that, for a story that's all about the meaning of sex in society and all it entails, that there's been no mention of same sex (same gender?) attraction so far...

But thats not jab at nofna though, dont get me wrong! I trust Zack as a writer to add the themes he wishes as he best sees it fit. Just something I find curious, and havent seen others mention yet.

Rachel,

Thank you very much for NofNA's first 3D tribute. 3D is not easy, yet you have made a beautiful rendition of this foreboding scene.

She's definitely admirin those teeth. Take a bite out of [s]crime[/s] <s>knowledge</s> Me

34 . by: theroguez April 5, 2017, 2:34 am

I also made some fanart because this comic is extremely inspirational to me and so well written.. I'm definitely looking forward to the next page as usual, but I'm sure it will be different than my guesses x)

@32 thank you!
32 . by: April 4, 2017, 4:06 pm

Oh his twitter, Zack said the next page is large and might be delayed until Friday.
31 . by: Furrama April 3, 2017, 8:03 pm

I think pink is opposing the blue of the nodes. And teeth symbolize power, though in XY's case it's knowledge and not sex/brute force.
30 . by: Starry April 3, 2017, 3:18 pm

I love this discussion and can't wait for the next page! Also has it been discussed what pink might symbolize? I know it's been mentioned that purple seems to be related to power but I've been seeing a lot of what I'd read as pink (over purple) as well and wonder if anyone has noticed any correlating theme with pink separately or even in conjunction with purple?

Dear Fellune,

Thank you very much for your readership, and your whimsical, sylph-like portrait of Fig/XX.

She seems to be fixating on XY's large, menacing teeth in the first panel (and also the last panel on the previous page). I hope she isn't becoming "inspired" by them...

Her expression may look kind of silly in the last couple of panels she appear in, but I'm wondering if whether she might be getting turned on by this analytical sexual lecture.

The black markings on Fig's muzzle have gone from resembling narrow arrowheads to being wide triangles. SV's black facial stripe got larger and more pronounced the more he was consumed by Malice. I wish I knew what the change in markings means here.

Damnit, Zack! You make me laugh and confuse the shit out of me at the same time!
25 . by: Max Coyote April 1, 2017, 12:38 am

Fig is getting smoked, and I support this.

omfg this fucking page tho

fig's last face there is my fave
21 . by: March 31, 2017, 6:37 pm

Thought this was gonna turn into a DEZ NUTZ joke
20 . by: Juna March 31, 2017, 4:28 pm

Yea, I'm leaning toward that too, since we've been talking about the language of sex and people's ability to co-opt abstraction to express (pursue?) their desires.
19 . by: Witticaster March 31, 2017, 4:12 pm

What I wouldn't give to see the phrase "there is no ass" uttered in this comic :D
18 . by: Furrama March 31, 2017, 3:55 pm

So, are you thinking that this is a 'there is no spoon' logic? 'There is no ass?'
17 . by: March 31, 2017, 3:27 pm

Pretty soon they're gonna start getting real funky and sniffing feet
16 . by: Witticaster March 31, 2017, 3:24 pm

The 'weird thing' he was mentioning before was (I believe) that people would frequently 'presuppose' or make up possible scenarios when talking about sexual topics. Applying society's definition of 'sexy' into a scenario that only existed in their own heads.

Perhaps part of the weirdness is that this rat was never real, just ink marks on a paper, and yet the guy was still performing sexual behaviors as if he was commenting on a tangible person. Ceci n'est pas une rat's ass.

Love Fig's face in the second to last panel.
15 . by: March 31, 2017, 3:13 pm

OR... Or maybe it's that the ass is not the goal, the goal would be the genitals in the same vicinity. The showing of and being turned on by the ass is a recognizable and easily linked fetish. Very vanilla and only slightly removed from the genitals, but the start of recognizing turn-ons that were not black-and-white sexual images.
14 . by: March 31, 2017, 3:07 pm

The missing out loud words were "I'd like to DO that ass," both statements relied on innuendo to get that point across.
13 . by: Furrama March 31, 2017, 2:02 pm

'Based on a true story' eh? Is this the echo of this comic's genesis?
12 . by: March 31, 2017, 11:55 am

He's very purple on this page, didn't somebody point out purple = power?
11 . by: March 31, 2017, 11:07 am

Same, fig, bahahahah
10 . by: kuu March 31, 2017, 11:04 am

a non rat said the rat had a nice ass?
9 . by: ItPierces March 31, 2017, 10:02 am

For the moment, I'd just like to point out XY's huge, looming teeth in the first. He's clearly upset about something.
8 . by: Dani March 31, 2017, 9:58 am

I'm like Fig: I don't know, Smoothie!
7 . by: March 31, 2017, 9:02 am

Animals finally invented youtube comments.
6 . by: March 31, 2017, 9:00 am

*- painting, not photo X(
5 . by: March 31, 2017, 9:00 am

Is it maybe that both statements are commenting on secondary sexual characteristics, parts of the body that aren't literally related to sex??
4 . by: March 31, 2017, 8:59 am

There wasn't a donkey in the photo?
3 . by: March 31, 2017, 8:59 am

The syntax has switched emphasis?
2 . by: March 31, 2017, 8:57 am

I love Fig's, "I don't know, I think it's funny but clearly you don't think it's funny" expression, wonderful
1 . by: ItPierces March 31, 2017, 8:33 am

Anything remotely referring to her identity as an actual person or acknowledging the relevant activity she was actually doing? Her body and face were missing?
