Smoothie had his moments where he was inconsiderate of Fig's feelings (re: the scene where he was shoving her towards the mirror when she was clearly distressed), but for the most part he's been polite, encouraging of Fig's talent and intelligence, and generous: putting her through college and all.

Oh I liked Smoothie. I just think maybe Zack did the thing where he tried to make us guess which of the two pair of HIOT guys were the gods of destruction and creation. Looking back now it's pretty obvious Scruffy intended to warp society. But we didn't see much of him and what we did see was nothing too negative or out of the ordinary. We had no idea what the bet entailed but now we have a better idea of each ones motive. Smoothies not perfect either and I think that's part of the point. I still think he's a cinnamon roll though.

well, also, saying she has a boyfriend would invite questions about said boyfriend, which she'd inevitably have to lie about, because no way can she say who her boyfriend is (her boss who just put a noose around her neck...) this is a faster and easier lie, and a just plain smart one if she doesn't want him to know the tangled web of misery she's living in.

im getting a "doesn't want him to know" vibe from calling greenie boss, too. possibly this was foreshadowed in the beginning when XX and greenie's black out drunk? drunk friend was desperate not to let greenie find out. if greenie goes after smoothie though!! kick his ass, smoothie!!

I think maybe we're all a just a little bit worried that what happened to the client on Page 100 may happen again. Wonder if XY knows about that incident? Unless the boss rat paid the injured guy hush money (hush credit?) to make up a lie about how his face got maimed, I don't see how that story could be kept a secret from anyone who has seen him. XY seems to be getting along well with her so far. As long as he doesn't "inspire" her (or push her buttons)... As for a new, possibly final name for XX, I'm wondering if she'll eventually chose to be called "Synconium." She could be "Sync" for short. And Furrama, I actually liked it when you would come up with creative new names for Greenie, such as "Surly Greenstreak" (Muahaha! I got that reference!) Please don't stop (unless you really want to).

I really want them to talk about art! Since it was mentioned at the beginning that he was into art and that art 'isn't just about what's pretty and what isn't', it sounds like he would be right up her alley. It's bound to come up at some point.

I think XX calling Greenie her boss instead of boyfriend may also be because 1. bad for business if it gets around that one of the prostitutes has a boyfriend? 2. just doesn't want Smoothie to know she has a boyfriend because shes into him.

XX and XY... that's poetic. And she's finally referring to Greenie as what he is. Scruffy was skulking around the brothel, taking a particular interest in the 'irresistible' Fig, and then Smoothie shows up for a session with her... I wonder if their bet involved Scruffy hooking up Smoothie with the most bangin' gal in the region to see if he can stay professional in the face of overwhelming sexiness.

The fact that his thesis at the beginning was that sex is a stoppable force is either foreboding or hopeful. Is he going to fall victim and show that it isn't, or will he actually be able to overcome it and prove his point? I hope nothing bad happens to him.

But this page is beautiful in showing a DIFFERENT kind of intimacy, something she's not had in forever. Incredible of Zach to pull off a sense of that in a non-sexual moment in a story about sex!! I think it's a good sign that she gave him her 'real name' rather than only her brothel nickname here. Getting to know some information about who she really is, even if only a little. Since he asks if it's alright, I assume taking someone's scent code is something a bit more personal that her other clients don't typically do, and she usually remains cloaked behind her brothel persona of Fig. I do hope she'll let this guy in a little bit, and that this won't take a turn for the worse. She could really use it, I'm sure. I can only imagine how Greenie would react to her having a romantic fling with someone since her sex work is normally going to be so detached and only physical, which could be why he reacted in such a horrified way when he said he wasn't going to have sex with her. She's so deeply lost in her facade right now, but it's a sign of hope that a tiny bit of her gray is returning. But that's all speculation, as always nofna is difficult to ever predict.

Hi, The original scent code rules still stand today. The species information is at the fore, while the personal, familial information is in the middle, and the personal, individual information is at the rear. P.S. The VFR is still a motorcycle ;-) Fig just happens to have an "X" in her family, giving her a triple "X".

re: scent codes-- check out page 149 of 10%+. on a new defunct forum from years ago, zachary explained scent codes a bit. the first letter(s) were short for the characters' species (maned wolf), next part was for their family (canine), and the last 4 were personal identification markers, i think. at least the last 3 were. i'm not sure how accurate that information is anymore though, since sv's and xx's scent codes don't line up with this. it may just be meaningless now.

@Furrama SV's scent code was revealed after his death, it's TRQWTSV. Since neither have any letters in common in terms of placement it's hard to say what the scent codes could mean other than the information we've been given about the R being species significant.

I knew it! I knew Greenathing's name was going to be a reveal! IN YOUR FACE COMMENT SECTION. (notreallypleasedon'thurtme) Now I can stop coming up with a different green name every time I talk about him. And of course, XY. I think I had guessed that at one point too. Because chromosome reference. But hmmm, we have two XY's. SXY and GXY? (I like the idea of SXY, just because of how I pronounce it in my head.) Hopefully SXY reveals a proper word name for us to use soon. He should have had a naming trial if he's so far along in his studies. I can only hope it will top such names as Tinkly and Dribble. And oooooooooh not a boyfriend anymore! I feel hope again. I do wonder what being an X type means in the scent code. Is it like being born under the same star and a coincidence? Or does it mean something? R meant mustelid or mustelinae I think right? XX's full name is VFRHXXX. So, I guess H would be for the genus, and the first X for the species (stoat)? And the last two letters are different for the individual? All I really remember is that vowels are shady. :D The only other character that I think we got all the letters for to compare is Meander, MWCKFTQ. Since they don't share any letters I'm not sure what to make of it. They are both mammals in carnivora, but I don't see a letter for either. Did SV or anyone else have a full scent code that I don't remember?

If she's drifting back into her gray, it's pretty subtle on my monitor. I do like that the environment became brighter during their conversation,though. Their scent exchange is so nice and briefly intimate, too. Glad Smoothie/XY ended up being as compassionate as you'd hope a student of psychology to be, and hopefully his observations of the brothel get some well-deserved light.

Oh wow, very interesting! After all this time now we know Greenie's real 'name'. I'm not sure how I didn't see XY coming. I'm so curious what it could mean that they have the same scent code. I'm glad that these two seem to be having a pleasant talk so far, and that Fig is regaining a bit of her gray.
